U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in California discovered $5 million worth of methamphetamine disguised as watermelons last week, the agency said Tuesday.
A 29-year-old man driving a commercial tractor-trailer ran into trouble with CBP officers at the Otay Mesa Commercial Facility in San Diego on Friday as he was trying to enter the U.S. from Mexico, the agency said.
The man said he was bringing a shipment of watermelons across the border, according to the CBP statement. Officers sent the driver, his vehicle and its cargo for further examination after the first checkpoint.
The supposed shipment of watermelons was offloaded from the truck in the secondary inspection area, where, upon further inspection, CBP said, officers found "1,220 packages wrapped in paper, disguised as watermelons within the shipment."
"The contents of the packages were tested and identified as methamphetamine, with a total weight 4587 pounds," CBP said. "The estimated street value of the drugs exceeds $5 million dollars."
CBP officers seized the narcotics and the tractor-trailer, the agency said, and the driver was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations for further investigation.
"I am incredibly proud of our team for their exceptional work over the past few weeks in uncovering sophisticated and diverse smuggling methods," said Rosa E. Hernandez, port director for the Area Port of Otay Mesa. "As drug cartels continue to evolve their smuggling techniques, we will continue finding new and better ways to prevent these dangerous drugs and other contraband from entering the country."
Just one week before, CBP officers at the same facility intercepted 629 pounds of the same drug, this time concealed in a shipment of celery, according to a separate release from the agency. That shipment had an estimated street value of $755,000.
According to CBP, both seizures are the result of Operation Apollo, which is described as a "holistic counter-fentanyl effort" that began in October in Southern California and expanded to Arizona in April.
The operation "focuses on intelligence collection and partnerships, and utilizes local CBP field assets augmented by federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial partners to boost resources, increase collaboration, and target the smuggling of fentanyl into the United States," CBP said.

Nobody told me it ended
From the little information allowed on Earth, it was known that all of the Citadels were exactly the same. That didn’t stop this one from feeling twice as big and twice as empty.
The elevator sped along its glowing blue railings, not with a clanking or clattering or even whirring that was in some way indicative of the machinery dragging it upwards against its will, but with a hollow, high-pitched ocean of noise that Helen had never quite grown used to despite having ascended such an elevator many a time. Some part of her otherwise sharp and practical brain snarled at the discomfort the ringing caused in her head, the vibrations spilling their way like marbles onto the spotless floor of her reasoning, knocking down other unnecessary things along with them.
Just as she was the sole unmodified human in this Citadel piercing its unearthly metal through the grey sky above City 9 like a hypodermic needle, so was she the sole unmodified human on the train out of the ill-fated City 17. She knew it had been the case because she had been just as alone in the pitch-dark, featureless box that had been the only compartment of the train that its extradimensional manufacturers had bothered to make suitable for human habitation as she was now, in the elevator. Despite being technically habitable, which was a small blessing in its own right, the air in the box was stabbingly, bitingly cold; the walls itself seemed to ravenously devour any warmth in their vicinity. A shiver crossed Helen’s skin as she recalled wrapping the jacket tighter around herself, hoping to preserve the little heat her human body could generate…
The jacket. She was wearing it over her white blazer even now. Rusty brown, patched in several places with odd scraps of fabric. On one of these patches, the garish orange one adorning her left sleeve, a hand had scratched the Greek letter ‘lambda’ in fading black marker.
That night. she had, against all her better judgement, allowed herself to drift off against the hard wood of her desk, her eyes strained and painful from looking at the frigid blue of her monitor screen for most of the night. When she woke up, she was still there, but a pain in her back had replaced the one in her eyes, and that jacket with that patch had been thrown over her neck and shoulders.
Even in that other Citadel, there were not many other unmodified humans with her, and she knew only one of them could possibly have had access to such an object.
All things considered, Helen had not actually seen all that much of Doctor Judith Mossman, at least not in person. She maintained frequent contact with the Citadel via screens, of course, but for her to travel there physically would no doubt raise suspicion among the enemy.
The enemy. Anticitizens, as designated by Overwatch. A ‘Resistance’, they fancied themselves, parading themselves under that accursed sign of the lambda. Helen knew what they actually were. Terrorists and insurgents, bombing checkpoints, assaulting Metropolice in the streets, causing stricter and stricter crackdowns on citizen activity, their every move, their every breath reducing Earth’s chances of ever being anything more than an insignificant little outpost for the Universal Union.
But Doctor Mossman… as a consequence of her position, she knew these people by name. She spoke of teleportation device plans devised by an Isaac Kleiner and that they’d re-established contact with an Arne Magnusson. But, perhaps with the most emotion, with the most pain in her voice, she’d talk of an Eli Vance. Doctor Eli Vance. The man behind most of the insurgency’s operations, whose wife Azian had been codenamed ‘Vance Prime’ and permanently relocated offworld for her crimes against the Union over a decade ago.
It was for Eli Vance that Doctor Mossman had begged to be taken to Nova Prospekt instead of directly back to the Citadel after the raid on Black Mesa East, and Helen, like a fool, had allowed it, remembering the desperate bargaining she had caught by chance between her and Breen to not take him, to take Freeman, anyone, but not Eli Vance.
Doctor Mossman. No, Judith, alone and afraid, left in the City 17 Citadel to die because, what do you know, Breen was a coward, Eli Vance was in the room, and while Helen wasn’t looking, they’d pushed Judith to her limit. And she wasn’t there to help, and all she was left with of Judith was a brown jacket a size too small for her, emblazoned with a reminder of her failure.
You lived. She didn’t. Simple as that.
Helen swallowed the uncomfortable lump that she had not even realised had formed in her throat, as the elevator slowed, then came to a complete halt. Helen breathed a half-hearted sigh of relief; at least that grating noise was finally gone.
Her new room had been furnished in preparation for her arrival. A simple sofa, a desk with a screen looming over it and a black office chair, all dwarfed by the startlingly high ceiling that had characterised almost every chamber in the previous Citadel.
Helen collapsed on the sofa with a dry, hollow sigh. What was she supposed to have done? Tell Doctor Mossman to not cling to fellow humans after losing so much? She couldn’t even tell herself that with any hope for a result. A decade of training her mind to not flinch at citizen death counts no matter how high the numbers climbed and she still wasn’t over the death of one woman.
The sigh echoed back at her, as though in mockery. Was this place really bigger and emptier? She supposed it was harder to hear echoes when she was constantly subjected to Breen’s gloating on the success of the latest broadcast at raising citizen morale (as though she hadn’t co-written it with him), or his agonising over some new demand from the Advisors. She’d known few men who talked quite so much and quite so exhaustingly. While she’d never been acquainted with the disgraced Cave Johnson, her spell of work at Aperture having come after his passing, from what she knew, he and Breen would have either gotten along shockingly well or attempted to strangle one-another on-sight.
The talking, much like many other things about Breen, she figured, had been a begging to be noticed. To be recognised for what he’s done by something greater than himself. She could only assume that the Union had once been that, but by the time she had taken up a position in the Citadel, he was already showing signs of desperation. Even when he ran out of things to say, he never closed screen communication with Advisors, letting the image fade out on its own.
Helen sighed again, anticipating the echo this time, letting its frosty irony wash over her. Life in the City 17 Citadel had been a pitiful three-way war for connection, and now her ears still rung with the sounds of the battles that sound so much like the voices of family. No wonder this place felt twice as empty.
OUGHHHHHZJHZIZJXIISJSHSHSHSHE THIS IS SO GOOD

You ever wanna just read the comments but then some fucking dipshit HAS to put down:
Gman-Rise and shine Mr. Freeman, rise and shine. Not that I wish to imply that
you have been sleeping on the job. No one is more deserving of a rest than you.
And all the effort in the world would have gone to waste until.... Well lets
just say your hour has come again. The right man in the wrong place can make
all the difference in the world. So wake up Mr. Freeman, wake up and smell the
ashes.
(The gman slowly fades away into the background and his image is replaced with
the viewpoint of Gordon Freeman on a train pulling into a station)
Citizen 1-I didnt see you get on. This is my third transfer this year.
Citizen 2-No matter how many times I get relocated I never get used to it.
(the train pulls into the station and stops)
Citizen 1-Well, end of the line.
(as Gordon gets off the train he is scanned by a small flying device, a large
monitor with a face on it begins to speak)
Monitor/Breen-Welcome, welcome to city 17, you have chosen or been chosen to
relocate to one of our finest remaining urban centers. I thought so much of
city 17 that I elected to establish my administration here, in the citadel so
thoughtfully provided by our benefactors. I have been proud to call city 17 my
home. So whether you are here to stay, or passing through on your way to parts
unkown, welcome to city 17, it is safer here.
Civil Patrol-First warning move away.
Citizen 3-It, Its all I have left.
(the civil patrolman shoves the citizen into his luggage)
Civil Patrol-Move it.
Citizen 3-Alright, alright I am moving, jeez.
Citizen 4-Were you the only ones on that train? Overwatch stopped our train in
the woods and took my husband for questioning. They said he would be on the
next train, I am not sure when that was. They are being nice and letting me
wait though.
Citizen 5-Dont drink the water, they, they put something in it to make you
forget, I dont even remember how I got here.
Citizen 6-Dr. Breen again? I was hoping I had seen the last of him in city 14.
Citizen 7- I wouldnt say that to loud, this is his base of operations.
(Gordon looks down to the end of the checkpoint where he sees citizens
being led through)
Civil Patrol 2-You, Citizen come with me.
Citizen 8-Wai, Wait a minute where are you...
Civil Patrol 2-GET IN HERE!
Civil Patrol 2- Go on!
Citizen 8-ME?
Civil Patrol 2-I SAID MOVE!
(Gordon comes to a fenced in area, a civil patrolman blocks his path, he goes
the other way and when he enters the caged area both doors shut and an alarm
sounds, he is scanned by a camera)
Civil Patrol 3-Dont move, hold it
(the side door opens)
Civil Patrol 4-You citizen, come with me.
(Gordon follows him down a hallway, as he looks into a room he can see a
citizen being intterogated)
Citizen 9-This must be a mistake, I got a standard relocation coupon just like
everyone else.
(before Gordon can see anything more the civil patrol man in this room shuts
the viewing slot on the door)
(Gordon comes to the last door in the hall way, the civil patrolman knocks on
the door and it opens to reveal another civil patrolman)
Civil Patrol 4-Get in! Need any help with this one?
Civil Patrol 5-No I am good
(Civil Patrolman 4 leaves the room)
Civil Patrol 5-Back up!
Civil Patrol 5-Yeah I am gonna need me some privacy for this
(civil patrolman 5 uses his console to turn off the 2 cameras in the room)
Civil Patrol 5-Now...
(the civil patrolman takes off his helmet and reveals himself to be barney)
Barney-About that beer I owed ya. Its me Gordon, barney from black mesa.
Sorry for the scare I had to put on a show for the cameras. I have been
working undercover with civil protection, I cant take too long or they will
get suspicious, I am way behind on my beating quota
(a man in a lab coat appears on the screen on the console in front of barney)
Dr. Kliener-Yes barney what is it? I am in the middle of a critical test.
Barney-Sorry doc, but look whos here.
Dr. Kliener-Great Scott! Gordon Freeman! I expected more warning.
Barney-Yeah you and me both doc. He was about to board the express train to
Nova Prospekt.
Dr. Kliener-Well, Barney what do you intend to do?
Barney-Im thinking, Im thinking.
Dr. Kliener-Alyx is around here somewhere, she would have an idea of how to
get him here.
Barney-Well, as long as he stays away from checkpoints we should be okay.
Listen I gotta go doc, we are taking enough chances as it is.
Dr. Kleiner-Very well. And eh Gordon? Its good to see you.
(the monitor shuts off)
Barney-Okay Gordon your going to have to make your way to Dr. Klieners lab.
(there is a loud knocking at the door)
Barney-Oh man! That is what I was afraid of! Get in here Gordon! Before you
blow my cover!
(barney releases the lock on the back door)
Barney-Pile up some stuff to get to that window and keep going till your in
the plaza. I will meet up with you later.
(Gordon escapes out the window and arrives at another building, a civil
patrolman blocks his only path, he knocks a can over)
Civil Patrol 6-Pick up that can. Now put it in the trash can.
(reluctantly Gordon puts it in the trash can)
Civil Patrol 6-Alright you can go.
(Gordon comes to a large plaza, with gates branching to different areas of the
city, he continues past the plaza outside, beyond the plaza lies a extremely
large building, he makes his way down the street to a area with 2 buildings,
one of the entrances is guarded by civil patrolman)
Citizen 10-This is how it always starts, first one building, then the entire
block.
Citizen 11-They have no reason to come to our place.
Citizen 10-Dont worry, they will find one.
(Gordon enters the entrance of the non-guarded building)
(as he makes his way up the stairs he sees a group of 4 civil patrolmen knock
down a door and rush in too a room, he enters the adjacent room)
Citizen 12-Oh, I thought you were a cop.
Citizen 13-Dont worry he is one of us.
Citizen 12-Look at them down there.
Citizen 13-I told you they would be coming for us next!
Citizen 12-Just this once I hope you are wrong.
(as he makes his way further up the building a voice sounds)
Warning Voice-Attention residents, miscount detected in your sector
Citizen 14-Psst! Hey you! In here! Head for the roof! There is no time to lose!
Citizen 15-Run for your life!
Citizen 16-Civil Protection!
Citizen 17-CPs!
Citizen 16-Here they come!
(Civil protection starts raiding the building and Gordon runs for the roof
along with other citizens)
Citizen 18-Get in here quick!
(the citizen shuts the door to the room and holds his body against it)
Citizen 18-Head for the roof! I will keep them busy!
(a chase ensues with Gordon running across a series of rooftops with civil
protection chasing him)
(Gordon reaches a open window and goes inside, he heads down a staircase which
collapses behind him, civil protection close in on him)
Alyx-Over Here! Ha! No you dont!
(the screen goes white and Gordon is knocked unconscious)
(as Gordon wakes up he sees alyx and the bodies of the CPs that were chasing
him)
Alyx-Dr. Freeman I presume? We better hurry, the combine can be slow to wake,
but once they are up you will have a hard time taking them down.
(alyx opens an elevator and Gordon heads down it along with her)
Alyx-Dr. Kliener said you might be coming this way. I dont think it occurred to
him that you might not have a map.
Alyx-Im Alyx Vance, my father worked with you back in black mesa, but im sure
you dont remember him.
Alyx-Man of few words arent you?
Alyx-Remember him from black mesa? Your old administrator?
(alyx gestures to a picture of the same man that was on the large monitor)
Aylx-Ha! Dont get my dad started on Dr. Breen.
==============================================================================
2b. A Red Letter Day
==============================================================================
Aylx-Funny you showing up on this day in particular.
Aylx-We have been helping people escape the city on foot. Its a dangerous route
to my fathers lab through the old canals, today we are finally on the verge of
having a better way.
Alyx-Here lemme buy you a drink
(alyx puts a coin into a vending machine, the machine opens like a door to
reveal a passage behind it that leads to Dr. Klieners lab)
Alyx-Oh and by the way, nice to finally meet you.
(Gordon enters the lab and sees Dr. Kliener)
Dr. Kliener-Blast that little.. where did she get to? Llamar? Come out of there.
Aylx-Uh-oh, everything alright Dr. Kliener?
Dr. Kliener-Oh, hello Alyx. Well almost alright, Llamar has gotten out of her
crate again. If I didnt know better, I would suspect barney of trapping and..
My goodness, Gordon Freeman, It really is you isnt it?
Alyx-I found him wandering around outside, bit of a troublemaker isnt he?
Dr. Kliener-We owe a great deal to Dr. Freeman, even if trouble does seem to
follow in his wake.
Dr. Kliener-I must say Gordon you have come at a very opportune time, Alyx has
just installed the final piece in the resurrected teleport!
Alyx-I cant take any credit for the breakthrough doctor.
Dr. Kliener-Nonsense, your talents surpass your loveliness.
Aylx-Lets just see if this thing works ok?
(barney enters the lab)
Barney-Well is he here? There you are! Man Gordon you stirred up the hive!
Barney-We cant keep him here long doc, It will jeporadize everything we have
worked for.
Alyx-Dont worry he is coming with me.
Dr. Kliener-Thats right Barney, this is a red letter day, we will inaugurate
the new teleport with a double transmission.
Barney-You mean its working? For real this time? Because I still have
nightmares about that cat.
Alyx-What cat?
Dr. Kliener-Now now there is nothing to be worried about, we have made major
strides since then. Major strides.
Aylx-What cat?
Barney-Doc, since he is not taking the streets you might as well get him out
of his civvies.
Dr. Kliener-What? Oh dear you are right, I almost forgot. Barney I will give
you the honor.
Barney-I have gotta get back on my shift but ok.
(barney uses a keypad to open up a garage like door, inside this small room
there is a glass case which contains the HEV suit)
Barney-Here we go.. Awahh!
(Dr. Klieners pet headcrab Llamar jumps on barney)
Barney-Damn it! Get it off me!
Dr. Kliener-Llamar! There you are!
Barney-I though you got rid of that pest!
Dr. Kliener-Certainly not. Never fear Gordon, she is de-beaked and completely
harmless. The worst she might try to do is couple with your head. Fruitlessly.
Llamar-Guwakkh!
Barney-Get that thing away from me!
Dr. Kliener-Here my pet. Hop up!
(Llamar jumps up onto a shelf with some crates and computers)
Dr. Kliener-No not up there!
Dr. Kliener-No, No! Careful Llamar those are quite fragile.
(Llamar jumps into a vent)
Dr. Kliener-Oh fie! It will be another week before I can coax here out of
there!
Barney-Yeah. Longer if we are lucky.
Alyx-Barney.. You are not an animal person?
Barney-Ugh.
Dr. Kliener-Well Gordon go ahead, slip into your suit now.
(Gordon steps into the glass chamber and puts the HEV suit on)
Dr. Kliener-Well Gordon I see your HEV suit still fits you like a glove, at
least the glove parts do.
Dr. Kliener-I have made a few modifications, but I will just acquaint you with
the essentials, now lets see..
(Dr. Kliener picks up a clipboard with a paper on it and begins reading from
the paper)
Dr. Kliener-The Mark V Hazardous Environment Suit has been redesigned for
comfort and utility..
(A loud alarm sounds in the background)
Dr. Kliener-Oh dear!
Barney-Doc we dont have time for this. At least get that suit juiced up Gordon.
Dr. Kliener-Good idea, there is a charger on the wall. I have modified your
suit to draw power from combine energy outlets, which are plentiful wherever
they patrol.
Aylx-Meanwhile, lets get this show on the road.

Hello mineblr,
When Part 1 of the Community Update released, we had said that several features had been pushed back in order to give them the extra polish they deserve. While some of these features are being released with Part 2 of the update, there is one that we couldn't bear to wait on: **speedrunning.**
That's right: **official speedrunning courses and leaderboards for existing parkour and survivalist courses on the server are NOW LIVE!**
Here are the **NINE** courses so far:
- The Citadel
- The Crashsite Dungeon Parkour (Parallel Prime)
- Mesa Town Parkour (Parallel Prime)
- Old Spawn Town Parkour Easy/Medium/Hard (Parallel Prime)
- Ralnthar Parkour (Parallel Prime)
- Spawn Town Parkour
And of course... **the Death Cube.**
To begin your official speedrun of a course, step on the **gold pressure plate.** The **iron pressure plates** are there to serve as checkpoints; you must hit every single one for your run to qualify! Finally, step on the gold pressure plate at the end of the course to finish your run. If you want to stop your run at any time, type `/endrun`!
New world records for each course will be announced in chat. Also, you can type `/leaderboard [course_name]` to check the top ten times for a particular course!
Furthermore, **speedruns are OPTIONAL** for some of these courses that aren't strictly parkour-based (such as the Citadel). For these courses, the gold pressure plate to start the course is off to the side, meaning that you can enter and explore without feeling the need to speedrun!
We hope you all enjoy racing your friends and setting progressively more impressive world records for all of these courses! *More courses will be added in the future, and we're open to suggestions!*
*Don't get speeding tickets,*

I dreamt again, still at our old house and it was Christmas Eve. I don’t know how we knew because it started with us already packing our stuff, trying to escape. We took a lot of bags and our way was to Sta. Mesa through Kalentong. It was so dessert-like, beggars everywhere, people are dirty. We were stopped by the military because we were carrying a lot of bags and asked us what’s inside. We showed shades, glasses, etc, anything other than something that would signify we were running away. They didn’t suspect and let us through. Then another checkpoint. I forgot what caught their attention but they found us out and shot us with shit. And then we’re back at the house. We were on our way to escape again but the military was waiting for us at the top of the stairs.. I was climbing after my sister so I slowed down so that W and the rest of my family behind me will slow down and know that something was up and they did. I closed the entryway of the stairs immediately after I climbed up so they won’t see the others. Then, I woke up.

MESA: *writing in his journal* it’s day 3 of being stuck in this dimension with that mortal and his pesky robot. I’ve seen numerous different species, many of which I have never heard of before. After hours of careful observation, I’ve finally decided that—
Steve: *to the tune of the final countdown* ITS A MENTAL BREAKDOWN
G.U.I.D.O: *off-key kazoo noises*
MESA:
MESA: —there is no intelligent life here

ITS HALLOWEEN MCC TIME!
PARKOUR WARRIOR IS BACK IM GOING TO DIE
brief intermission to watch the PARKOUR WARRIOR RULES VIDEO
youtube
An army of ninja frogs helped them revive Parkour Warrior!
Map is broken into sections, with 3 checkpoints in each section
Stone medals = coins
Every time you get to the end of a section, you will get the option to do a Bonus Path, also broken into 3 checkpoints. Each checkpoint will reward a bronze -> silver -> gold medal for finishing (more coins). On Bonus Paths each difficulty will be marked as either Easy, Medium, and Hard. The first Bonus Path will most likely be all Easy but the later ones will likely be more Hard. You can use your Teleport to return to the main path if you're running out of time in the Bonus Path.
By finishing the entire course, you'll get a multiplier applied to your entire team's overall coins. The more people on your team who finish, the higher the team multiplier.
The ending of Parkour Warrior is now 3 routes - Easy, Medium, Hard - to make it likelier for people to finish as long as you don't waste time on the Bonus Paths. If you choose a Medium/Hard Difficulty for the Ending, you'll get a higher team multiplier.
If you don't finish the entire course, you don't get a multiplier
There will be a graphic at the top showing progress in the course so players know if they have enough time for Bonus Paths
Parkour Warrior's course will randomize & change for every event
There are also dynamic obstacles with timings & rhythms that will change per event
Ok back to the main video!
TRICK OR TREATING IS BACK IN THE HUB! Person who collects the most candies will be Pumpkin King/Queen and get a Skeleton Horse
MCC will not be using Shears, instead you'll be using Pickaxes for everything (Wool has been replaced by Concrete in games)
Battle Box is on the Haunted House map
HITW is on the Medieval Map, and the invisible pistons that caused people to fall off the map are gone
Grid Runners has some spooky new rooms
Sky Battle is on the Mesa map with a cauldron in the center
Sands of Time has Cthulhu in it
Rocket Spleef Rush launchers are armed with pumpkins now!
TGTTOS maps: Shallow Lava, Glide, Launcher, Doors, Cliff, Siege. Also Siege has a surprise change
Meltdown: All spawn rooms now have at least 2 doors. This will reduce the chance you get cut off & camped in your spawn room
Witchbolt returns!!

"All Hail Mesa!!"
–Dark Steve(from Checkpoint Multiverse)
He serves Mesa, so no wonder why. Just a fact about my AU is that Steve got tired of being pranked on, and he wished never to be picked on again. And Mesa appeared, his sinister looking ready to make Steve wishes come true. Eh,then he became black, and yea,Mesa basically uses Steve as a vessel just to destroy the entire multiverse.

Things... things aren't great. Steven's robot army has pushed into nearly a fifth of the facility. Any Black Mesa employee that is unlucky enough to get into their sightlines...
17 innocent people were killed when these things first breached the checkpoint. The number climbs a point or two every few hours. Fortunately people are smart enough to have run when they showed up, but it's still horrible.
They don't target H.E.C.U Marines unless they attack first, which means the military are managing to get behind them and take them out en masse. But we're still losing ground. Without divine intervention, we're all fucked.
